How to book a psychic

Searching for a psychic or medium?
Pubs often book psychics for charity events, pub fun days, or for special evenings, like on Halloween.  If you are a pub, looking for a psychic, you may prefer a reader to sit at a particular table for a small group or for one to one readings. You may want to consider looking for a platform SNU medium who has been used to speaking to large groups of people.

Psychic suppers / parties or coffee psychic events can be fun, and is easily organised.  Explain why you are having the event or party, give an idea of how many people are expected, the type of venue (house, pub, club, ect). This helps the psychic  work out a price for you.  it may help for you to phone a number of psychics or mediums before making your choice, as for some events,  like Halloween, they may  already be booked.

Costs and times
Psychics offer readings which are timed (10, 15, 20 minutes and so  on). Sometimes the duration of reading can link to the price they wish to charge, as well as the number of people. For large groups, it may be better to offer short durations up to 20 minutes. Psychics / mediums do not always charge per person; they may have a single fee - it is worth while asking this when you book.

Is there a difference between a medium, a clairvyonat, and a psychic?

Mediums

Are people who can offer evidence that life lives on after death, by being able to describe the person clearly as they work visually, (CLAIRVOYANCE).   Others will work clairaudiently, which means their contact is through sound, or "hearing a thought" which is passed to them, (This is often called CLAIRAUDIENT, sometimes also described  as  CLAIRSENTIENCE, which means sensing a thought from a spirit person) and some work with how they feel(CLAIRSENTIENCE).

Some mediums are not members of the SNU (Spiritualist National Union). SNU members are proven platform speakers and have spoken to groups of people or in churches.

Trance mediums are those whose facial features, speech, gestures will "change" into those of their spiritual guide. There are not many mediums who are able to do this.

Spiritual, or "psychic" artists can be included as "mediums". They are able to draw / sketch a figure for the person they are linking in to, this image is normally that of a "spirit person" or animal. Some spiritual artists are able to give a short message with their picture. Finding spiritual artists is a little more difficult; you can try googling spiritual artists for your area, or finding out from your local spiritualist church whether they could pass on your number to an artist near by. Some artists work along side a medium, who can pass messages on whilst the artist works.

Ideas of questions to ask of Mediums
"Are you  a registered SNU medium?"

If they are local to you, it may be possible for you to go along to a spiritualist church they are a speaker at, to see how they work.  Registered SNU mediums should be able to give  details of where they are working and when, for you to go along to see them.

"How do you work?"
Not all mediums prefer to do platform work outside of the church. They may like to offer "circles"; eg a small group of people to work with. They may even prefer to speak from the floor, not from a platform.  Some mediums like to touch an object (psychometry); others for example psychic artists will need a space for their paper and pens and perhaps some where to post their work.

Asking this question gives you an idea of what you will need, i.e.. tables, or just a circle of chairs, or perhaps lecture style seating. If they use psychometry, then in your advertising you will probably need to ask the medium how to word it, so that people who come know that the medium will need a watch, ring etc.
If in doubt, always ASK BEFORE HAND!

Psychics
There is a saying that all mediums are psychic to some degree, but not all psychics are mediums. Not all psychics are able to make a connection with those in the "spirit world".  Some psychics though, can be classed as "seers",   "mystics"  or "sensitives".  A psychic
usually links, or makes a connection by:

*  Sitting near to you,
*  Holding something of yours (psychometry)
*  Look at your palm, (palm readings)
*  Use cards, ribbons, tea leaves, coffee granules
*  Look through a crystal ball
*  Use crystal stones or pebbles, runes, sticks, flowers or colours.

Questions to ask of psychics:

"How do you work?"
If a psychic uses a crystal ball, ribbons, cards, runes etc then they will need a table or a surface large enough  to work with them.  This also gives you an idea for how to advertise the event, or how to describe who is coming to people interested in attending. Psychics may prefer to read for one person at a time. Some card readers will read intuitively, or spiritually, and others will read their cards  from historical, numerological, astrological or classical perspectives. Usually you will need 2 rooms, one for people to relax in, and one for the psychic to "read" in.

"How much do you charge?"
Psychic readers may have a one of booking fee for the evening, or they may be happy to charge per person. For house parties or house events, it is worthwhile seeing if they will give a free reading to yoiu, the  Host, after all  you are the one who has to get the tables or chairs out, tidy up afterward, organize any drinks etc.

Always ask. There should be no added on, or hidden charges. Ask if they give a refund if someone cannot relate to their reading. Ask if they want  deposits before hand.

For charity events some readers may be happy to attend with a small donation that will help with their petrol or traveling expenses.

If you are arranging a small house party it may also be a good idea to ask would happen should any one does not turn up, as some psychics may want you to collect full payment or full deposits to ensure their fee for the night.

How to plan for the event.

~ Some psychics / mediums offer CD or taped recordings of readings

~ Paper and pens are always useful to have around in case anyone needs to write down anything.

~
Give the psychic / medium a break if there are say more than 3 or 4  people may be a nice idea. Psychics/mediums always appreciate a drink and a biscuit!

~ Exchange  landlines as well as mobile numbers  - I have lost count of the number of pubs who have phoned me because they have only had a mobile number and have not been able to get hold of the person they have booked.

~ Organise who has their reading and when. For large events like raising funds, it may be simply on a first come, first served basis... for a smaller psychic party,  if you have a number of people you may like to think about having say a "draw" for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd reading and so on.  Please also though bear in mind that some people with children, care responsibilities, or work commitments,  may need to be home at a certain time.

~ Planning a psychic event to raise funds or for charity?  One Wrexham Nursery, on raising funds organised a rerally fabulous evening in the run up to Christmas.  They were able to have one hall of psychic/new age stalls mixed with Christmas stall holders - and had a second room where they booked a platform speaker, who spoke for about an hour or so. After that, they quickly transformed that room into sections where readers could sit behind tables. They had different readers; tarot, chrystal ball readers, mediums. It was on a first come, first served basis, and to keep everything fair, all readers charged the same for 15 minute readings. They had also booked a spiritual healer who offered hands on healing. It was one of the best events that I have attended, either as a reader, or as a customer. It  was better than many professional psychic fairs! Other types of "readers" that you  may want to consider for a large event like this may be: astrologers - they often do astrology / tarot and numerologists - they work on birth dates and the year, and dont' forget the psychic artists!

~ On a big event like the one the Nursery held, think about how you can organise raising money. The Nursery arranged with all their readers before hand to charge the same fee. The readers were then free to take money for readings as their payment, having paid the nursery a "stall fee" before hand, to the nursery.  For a small psychic night, a girly get together, or house party idea, if there is a one of fee for the evening, you could split the cost between all of you.  It is always nice if a psychic or medium can offer the person giving the party, a free reading as a "thank you" for organising it.

~ Age - Some psychics / mediums will not read for people below the age of 18.

~ Noise - some psychics or mediums cannot work with loud noises around. So for example, if you are a pub organising a pub psychic night, and you have loud music going on, then not all psychics/mediums can concentrate enough to read for someone!

~ Numbers - think
minimum / maximum. Some psychics or mediums for example, may  feel 10 people is their cut off point. This means you know where you are because often if you book for say 10 people, one or two may drop out or 2 more may want to come along. Some psychics or mediums will only come out for a certain number of people.

~ I hope this is of help to you; please remember that in advertising, or promoting, the event that in the UK, by law, all psychic work (including healing) is for entertainment only and cannot be guaranteed. Psychic phenomenon cannot be scientifically proven. Psychic readings should not replace professional advice, or opinion.

~ If in doubt on who to book, ask around. Good readers tend to be the ones that people remember!

With love and light.
