How to book a psychic

Searching for a psychic or medium?
Pubs often book psychics for charity events, pub fun days, or for special evenings, like on Halloween.  If you are a pub, looking for a psychic, you may prefer a reader to sit at a particular table for a small group or for one to one readings.  If though you are looking towards having a psychic platform speaker, you may consider looking for a platform SNU medium who has been used to speaking in churches to a large group of people.

Psychic suppers / parties or coffee psychic events can be fun, and is easily organised.  Whatever the reason; explain why you are having the event or party, give an idea of how many people are expected, or the type of venue (house, pub, club, ect) which is often all the medium or psychic needs to work out a price and also to confirm whether they are a suitable choice for the event you are planning; it may help for you to phone a number of psychics or mediums before making your choice, although some evenings (like for example Saturdays/Fridays, also events like Halloween, means that some psychics may already be booked.   Please do not be offended if one or two psychics do not wish to attend an event for you; there may be several reasons why they say no.

Whats the difference between a medium and a psychic?

Mediums
are people who can offer evidence that life lives on after death by linking in to spirit people. Some mediums will be able to describe the person clearly as they work visually, (CLAIRVOYANCE).   Others will work clairaudiently, which means their contact is through sound, or "hearing a thought" which is passed to them, (This is often called CLAIRAUDIENT, sometimes also described  as  CLAIRSENTIENCE, which means sensing a thought from a spirit person) and some work with how they feel(CLAIRSENTIENCE).

Psychics. There is a saying that all mediums are psychic to some degree, but not all psychics are mediums. This means that not all psychics are able to offer you a message or a link to a person that is no longer on the earth plane.  In a psychic reading, a reader will either link in to you simply by sitting next to you, holding something of yours, look at your palm, use cards, ribbons, tea leaves, coffee granules, crystal ball, crystal stones or pebbles, runes, sticks, flowers or colours to read for you. A psychic will offer you a reading which is timed (10, 15, 20 minutes and so on). This is a good way of working if there is a known number of people; for 4 people for example, the psychic may offer, or allow  half an hour, or 45 minutes for person.  For larger groups, it may work out better to offer 15 or 20 minutes per person.

Spiritual artists are able to draw / sketch a figure for the person they are linking in to.  Some mediums also work by Psychometry, which means that they will need to hold something from the person hoping for a reading, or something that the person who is in spirit would have had, like a watch, necklace, ring. Ribbon readings are very similar to psychometry readings.  A very small number of mediums are Trance mediums; this means that their facial features/speech/gestures will change to those of their spiritual guide.

There are also Platform mediums. These are usually SNU mediums, which means they are a registered medium with the Spiritualist National Union. They have often attended development classes themselves and have demonstrated on platforms  in spiritualist churches and so are used to working at the front of a group of people.

Questions that you may like to ask should you wish to book a Medium:

"Are you  a registered SNU medium?"

This is because if they are local to you, it may be possible for you to go along to a spiritualist church they are a speaker at, to hear them work and get a feel for them. If you would like to do this before you book them, they should be able to give you details of where they are working and when, for you to go along to see them.

"How do you work?"

This is a good question to ask because not all mediums prefer to do platform work outside of the church. They may prefer a small circle of people to work with, or perhaps like to work level to the people that have come along to see them, rather than standing on a platform. Some mediums like to touch an object (psychometry); others for example psychic artists will need a space for their paper and pens and perhaps some where to post their work. This then gives you an idea of what you will need, i.e.. tables, or just a circle of chairs, or perhaps lecture style seating. If they use psychometry, then in your advertising you will probably need to ask the medium how to word it, so that people who come know that the medium will need a watch, ring etc.

"How much do you charge?"
Mediums may charge an evening fee, and others may add on traveling expenses. If you are organizing for an event or charity, please explain before asking about any fees.  Many may be happy to do it for you for free, knowing they are contributing to a worthwhile cause, with perhaps a small donation to-wards their petrol or travel expenses (a free cup of coffee, tea or soft drink would also be most welcomed!)

Questions to ask of psychics:

"How do you work?"
If a psychic uses a crystal ball, ribbons, cards, runes etc then they will need a table or a surface large enough  to work with them.  This also gives you an idea for how to advertise the event, or how to describe who is coming to people interested in attending. Psychics may prefer to read for one person at a time. Some card readers will read intuitively, or spiritually, and others will read their cards  from historical or classical perspectives.

"How much do you charge?"
Psychic readers may have a one of booking fee for the evening, or they may be happy to charge per person. For house parties or house events, it is worthwhile seeing if they will give a free reading to yoiu, the  Host, after all  you are the one who has to get the tables or chairs out, tidy up afterward, organize any drinks etc.  Also ask if for example the reader wishes a deposit before hand. For charity events some readers may be happy to attend with a small donation that will help with their petrol or traveling expenses. If you are arranging a small house party it may also be a good idea to ask would happen should any one does not turn up, as some psychics may want you to collect full payment or full deposits to ensure their fee for the night.

"Do you offer any refunds if anyone is not happy with their reading?"
Sometimes, for whatever reason, a reader is not always able to make a connection with the person they are reading for; should that happen it is just as well to ask before you book a reader if refunds are available, and if so what the policy of a refund is.

"Is there anything else I need to know, or you would like to know, please?"
Some psychics / mediums will not read for people below the age of 18. This gives them the opportunity to explain this or to tell you anything that you have not already covered. Other things that this may cover - some psychics or mediums cannot work with loud noises around. So for example, if you are a pub and you have loud music going on, then not all psychics/mediums can concentrate enough to read for someone. It can also cover minimum / maximum numbers; some psychics or mediums for example, may  feel 10 people is their cut off point. This means you know where you are if you book for 10, and 2 more want to come along. Some psychics or mediums will only do a group of 4 or more.

Other things you may wish to think about
Whether the psychic or medium offers CD or taped recordings of readings - not all of them will offer this, but you may get someone who wants to come asking whether their reading will be recorded in some way.

Paper and pens are always useful to have stowed away in case anyone needs to write down anything.

Giving the psychic a break if there are say more than 3 people may be a nice idea. Psychics/mediums always appreciate a drink and a biscuit if they are there for say 3 hours or more.

Exchange  landlines as well as mobile numbers  - I have lost count of the number of pubs who have phoned me because they have only had a mobile number and have not been able to get hold of the person they have booked.

Bear in mind that readers whether psychic or mediums cannot always give a reading. It only happens on rare occasions but sometimes there just is no connection there, and that can happen for a variety of reasons. If that happens then of course there should be no charge for a reading because it never "happened".

Organising who has their reading and when - for one to one readings, if you have a number of people you may like to think about having say a "draw" for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd reading and so on.  Please also though bear in mind that some people if they have young children with a baby sitter or have carer responsibilities, may need to have an early reading if they have to be home by a certain time.

I hope this is of help to you.

With love and light.
